Bathtime

Little Crocodile, Little Monkey, and all their friends can think of a lot more things they'd rather do than take a bath. But as their mommies and daddies show them, bathtime is important, and can be a lot of fun, too!

Feelings

It's never too early to encourage children to talk about how they feel. This newest title in the Pull and Play Books series provides reassurance and support through gently humorous situations. Children will identify with feelings voiced by Little Crocodile and his friends.

Let's be Safe

Little Kangaroo and her friends feel ready to do things by themselves. Little Croc wants to go down the steps. Little Cat wants to get out of her high chair. But do they know the safe way to do things?

Mealtime

Little Crocodile, Little Monkey, and all their friends may not like to try new foods or know what to do at mealtime, but as their mommies and daddies show them, eating well together can be fun for everyone!

Sharing

Little Bear, Little Cat, and their friends do not like to share, whether it's Mommy's lap, a toy, or cookies. But as they find out, sharing with friends and siblings can be twice as much fun!

Patience

Waiting is hard!

Whether it's waiting to play with a toy, to get home, or to see Mommy and Daddy, Little Kangaroo, Little Cat, and their friends are just not sure if they can learn to be patient. But as their grown-ups show them, there are lots of fun things to do while they wait!

Please and Thank You

Little crocodile, little kangaroo, little monkey, and their friends find out just why it's important to be polite in this sweet and simple book that features a pull-tab on every spread. Young children will enjoy pulling the tabs to change the pictures and reveal the good feelings that come from having good manners.

Potty Time

Parents and caregivers can help little ones prepare for this milestone in every child's life with this reassuring pull-tab book: This newest title in the Pull and Play Books™ series provides reassurance and support through gently humorous situations. Children will identify with feelings voiced by Little Crocodile and his friends as they move the tabs to change the pictures. A timely and important addition to preschool books about growing up.

Pacifier

Little Bear, Little Monkey, and their friends love to use a pacifier. But sometimes it gets in the way when they play, talk, or go outside. In this reassuring book, the grown-ups show them that giving up their pacifier or putting it away just for a while doesn't have to be hard. And they might even have more fun without pacifiers!

Time for Bed

It's bedtime, but five animal friends just can't seem to fall asleep. Little Crocodile wants one last hug, Little Monkey feels it's too dark, and Little Cat just wants to play some more. With patience and understanding, their moms and dads know just how to soothe their children, and provide the comfort that eventually sends them off to sleep. Young children will enjoy pulling the tabs to change the pictures on every spread, to see just how the little animals are reassured. A timely and important addition to preschool books about growing up.

Started w/ audiobook, now I'm ordering the print too
Format: Paperback
This book is GREAT!! The integration of theory she uses to support her claims is masterful. I began listening to the audiobook, because it was cheaper & I go through a ton of counseling & psych books. I am a grad student in social work, and I'm also a therapy client trying to heal myself. I appreciate that this book targets "chronic shame" which as a central experience to a bunch of issues. The hundreds of books and articles I've researched seem like they were mostly ALL working back to this issue. In a psychology culture that is big on cognitive and chemical solutions to mental health, the relational approach that she emphasizes is critical to the healing process. I appreciate the research she uses from object relations, affect regulation, interpersonal, etc. I purchased the hard copy because 1. I can't underline/highlight an audiobook and 2. I want a copy of the references of theorists and study's that she draws from, because they are pure gold. All therapists need to understand the contents of this book! Unless you are perfectly fine offering band aid solutions. Clients and self-helpers beware. It's not triggering in terms of content, it is activating in the sense that she describes the felt experience of shame SO WELL. I could locate my own felt sense of shame which is, by default, unpleasant. Some stabilization and a decent therapeutic connection is probably necessary before cracking this book open. But that's why I love it. I needed to go deeper and get the core issues. And this book is like a map that guides you right to it.

One of the best books on shame out there
Format: Paperback
As a shame researcher and educator, I often refer to DeYoung's book because it is so full of resources and relational tools for clinicians and individuals relating to the neurobiology of shame. It is a very small book with A LOT of information. Many references to the shame research and suggestions for treating shame in clinical practice from a perspective of right brain relationship dynamics. Thank you Patricia!

Highly recommend.
Format: Paperback
One of the most helpful, lucid, and comprehensive books on shame I've encountered. This was required reading for graduate school and is now one of my most returned to, dog-eared, and referenced books. Can't recommend enough.
