This study of the art of William Hodges opens fresh theoretical perspectives on the representational problems raised by these early paintings produced in the South Pacific. Following Pacific Island historians of the 1960s, it argues that it is possible to read the texts and visual material produced from early South Seas encounters against the grain, as moments of cross-cultural exchange that challenge postcolonial complacencies. Tuhituhi is presented in sections that follow the geographical and chronological progression of Cook’s voyage on the Resolution, for which William Hodges was hired as official artist, Cook’s ‘landskip painter’. Painters like Hodges found themselves staring again and again in disbelief at landscapes and seascapes that stretched 18th-century conventions of painting, such as the ‘picturesque’, the ‘sublime’ and the ‘beautiful’. Each chapter of Tuhituhi focuses on the close reading of a significant painting of a South Pacific location by Hodges. The last chapter considers the important influence of Hodges’ work on a series of paintings by the major twentieth-century New Zealand painter Colin McCahon.

Keep em soft and lasting!
Size: Queen, Color: Dark Gray
Oh wow are these things soft. I bought them for my RV and Toy Hauler beds and they feel terrific. They are warm and probably won't come apart on you if you take care of them. The trick to that for me seems to be not to let them get "Crunchy". If you've owned these before you know what I mean. When the backing material begins to go and they fall apart in tiny chunks. This pro-tip is how mine have lasted longer than I had hoped: 1. Wash them in cold water. Hot water tends to get to these things after a few washed. Very little agitation as well. Don't spin them round and round and rip them up. Wash on the gentle cycle. 2. No bleach, color safe or not, and try to use very little detergent or use something like Woolite for delicates. Baby clothes detergent also works well. Something super mild. 3. Dry them with no or very little heat on a very low tumble. I tend to do the two I have together and that's all I put in the dryer. Mine have held up amazingly well for the abuse they take and they are a fluffy as new. This is a win product for the price, you won't regret it if you take care of it. Hope you found this helpful!

Love the color, and texture of the blanket. Great price too!
Size: California King, Color: Peacock Blue
We have this blanket sandwiched between our top sheet and comforter. My husband feels nice and warm with the blanket, but I'm a warm sleeper. I feel comfortable also since a keep a floor fan aimed to my side of the bed. Problem solved and we both get a comfortable, good night's sleep.

Size: Queen (20" X 30"), Color: 11 - Light Turquoise, Number of Items: 2, Size: Queen (20" X 30"), Color: 11 - Light Turquoise, Number of Items: 2
These satin pillowcases are honestly amazing. The material feels super soft, smooth, and cooling on the skin, and they make my bed look so elegant and luxurious. I bought them mainly to help protect my hair from frizz and dryness, They’re also very comfortable to sleep on and don’t feel cheap at all. The color is beautiful in person, exactly like the photos on Amazon. I washed them already and they still kept their softness and shine. Definitely worth the purchase for the price I would 100% buy again and recommend to anyone looking for cute, comfortable satin pillowcases.”

Budget friendly satin pillowcase
Size: Standard (20" X 26"), Color: 18 - Lavender, Number of Items: 2
This satin pillowcase is a great budget-friendly option! While it’s not quite as luxurious as my Blissy pillowcase, it still does a really nice job—especially for the price. It has that smooth, silky feel that helps reduce hair frizz and feels gentle on the skin. It’s also easy to wash and holds up well, which is perfect for everyday use. I especially love using these for the kids—they get the benefits of a softer pillowcase without worrying about ruining a more expensive one. Overall, it’s a solid, affordable alternative that still feels nice and does the job. Great value and perfect for families!
