Spring flowers and tropical fruits on the nose, with a tropical fruit salad on the tongue - mango, lychee, pineapple. Lightly saline, crisp and refreshing. The grapes are whole bunch pressed and fermentation kicks off in steel tanks. The wine remains unracked after fermentation and on its full lees for five months. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered, with a tiny sulphite addition. The wine is bottled early in February to maintain a certain tension and a really vibrant fruit expression. 

Folias de Baco ("the madness of Bacchus") is an organic and biodynamic winery in the Cima Corgo subregion of the Douro, in the Plateau of Alijó, a zone at 650m altitude. Winemaker Tiago Sampaio works completely naturally with no additions aside from minuscule doses of sulphites added to some wines at the bottling stage. The wines are full of life and vibrancy, and showcase a style of Douro wines that was lost a long time ago. UIVO', or 'howl', is written on most of his wines - since converting all of his vineyards to organic and biodynamic practices, Tiago has seen a substantial return of wildlife. Wolves used to roam the area and he hopes to help lure them back someday.
