For fans of sixties style and modern playability, we've got the Yamaha Revstar Standard RSS20. The Revstar designed with an eye toward the Café Racer bikes you'd see in the streets of London in the 1960s, lines up a welcoming suite of player-friendly features designed to inspire.
This Yamaha Revstar is a model made to match vintage aesthetics with modern playability. Starting off with a chambered mahogany body, the Revstar RSS20 is an effortlessly handled, lightweight, and resonant instrument – particularly when it's paired with its maple top for that top-end bite. A gloss finish wraps the body for its sleek, double-horned form. Here, a three-piece mahogany neck drops in with a carbon reinforced design for resonance and balance. The neck's satin finish makes for a smooth feel on the palm while its rosewood fingerboard lines up twenty-two Jumbo stainless steel frets. Spacious and speedy, these frets punctuate the rosewood's twelve-inch radius as players make smooth moves across the full scale length.
For its voice, the Revstar RSS20 loads in two Yamaha VH5b humbucker pickups. These humbuckers are designed with Alnico V magnets for an overall warm and crisp kick to really make for a formidable sonic profile. The pickups are then fitted with master volume and tone controls with a push/pull "Focus Switch" that quickly shapes their frequency to fit into a variety of musical styles. To back up its voice, a number of sturdy hardware appointments land on this model including a Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stopbar tailpiece that ground strings stably for easy stringing and a solid transfer of motion. This Revstar Standard travels with an included Yamaha gig bag.
As an encapsulation of '60s London sensibilities and modern player priorities, the Revstar RSS20 leaves everything else in the dust.
