Analog Meets Digital

The Korg multi/poly takes cues from Korg's legendary Mono/Poly synthesizer. Throwing back to the early '80s and the heyday of innovative analog synthesis, the multi/poly blends a classic, analog sound with modern digital flexibility. Onboard, its unique mix-and-match multi synthesis approach allows for an intuitive and inventive synthesizing process for synth experimenters to really get involved with. This interesting angle on modern synthesis gets players in on the immersive and musical paths the multi/poly is ready for.

Advanced analog modeling is the name of the game for the multi/poly's synth engine. Each voice onboard the multi/poly features a Virtual Voice Card that carries oscillators, filters, envelopes, LFOs, and portamento circuits modeled after analog hardware component variations. These variations all embody a slightly different character for creating naturally rich timbres and variety in sonic profiles.

Wide Spectrums of Sound

Each program offered on the multi/poly offers four oscillators for robust, vivid, and complex tonality. Classic, Digital, and Waveshaper oscillators all land on the multi/poly for a colorful suite of synthesizer voices. Use Classic oscillator models for traditional analog synthesizer sounds, Digital for vintage hybrid and eurorack sounds, and Waveshaper for "West Coast" synthesis styles. A separate noise generator drops in with dedicated filtering and saturation for new angles on classic synthesized sound.

Moving from your synthesized foundations into the bells and whistles that really make sounds come to life, the multi/poly features a suite of flexible modulation parameters and effects. Among this suite, four looping DAHDSR envelopes appear alongside five LFOs, six Mod Processors, three key-track generators and multi-lane Motion Sequencing 2.0. What this all means is all the enticingly twistable knobs found across the multi/poly's front panel are gateways into massively manipulatable areas of synthesis. The multi/poly, in short, allows for big moves in areas of synthesis modulation quickly and responsively.

Further Functionality

Some of the true fireworks of the multi/poly appear with Korg's Kaoss Physics technology. Within the multi/poly, Korg uses a Kaoss Physics engine to model a ball rolling on a surface and bouncing off walls – stay with us here. Adjustments within this virtual environment manifest as modulation adjustments in the sound profile of the multi/poly, so playing with the virtual materials, for example, for the virtual walls rebounding the virtual ball results in interesting paths of modulation and sound shaping. Kaoss Physics is one of Korg's more experimental experiences onboard the multi/poly, so have fun with it!

Plenty of functions land on the multi/poly to continue to inspire. Production-ready effects like compressors, modulations, delays, and more all drop in for easy integration into synthesized equations. A front-panel randomization button produces a random combination of settings for the multi/poly, which can also be targeted at oscillators, filters, and effects, to compartmentalize the randomness. Finally, external connectivity to Mac and Windows operating systems using USB connection opens the field of the multi/poly to further editing and organization of tones.
