The D-17 is a dreadnought-sized acoustic guitar assembled in pursuit of great playability and great tonality. These priorities come to light by starting out simply with a body featuring solid mahogany top, back, and sides. Mahogany, one of Martin's standby picks for tonewoods, delivers on Martin's classic warm and woody tones for which they are famous. This body construction is complemented by the D-17's Golden Era (GE) scalloped Sitka spruce bracing that balances projection, enriches the guitar's tone, and summons an impressive acoustic voice.
