What Are Fully Forged Wheels?
Also known simply as 'forged wheels', fully-forged wheels are manufactured using a far more advanced and labour-intensive process compared to cast or flow-formed wheels — resulting in an exceptionally strong, lightweight, and highly refined final product. This is the method used to create the 2Forge ZF8-R Fully-Forged Wheels.
The process begins with a solid billet of high-grade aluminium alloy. Rather than casting the metal into a mould, the billet is heated and placed into a high-pressure forging press capable of exerting thousands of tonnes of force. This immense pressure compacts and aligns the metal's grain structure, greatly improving strength, reducing material porosity, and allowing for thinner, lighter designs without sacrificing durability.
Once the basic wheel shape is forged, precision CNC machining is used to carve out the detailed design of the wheel face, spoke profiles, bolt patterns and any specific brake clearance requirements. This ensures a highly accurate, consistent, and beautifully finished product with a superior strength-to-weight ratio.
