Deco Lines by Jennifer Weissman of ShadyStroll Knits celebrates the outstanding Art Deco architecture that adorns New York City. Weissman used to work near Rockefeller Center and often admired the dramatic geometric forms ornamenting doorways, lobbies and elevators. It only seems natural that she would create a glorious piece by weaving some of these shapes into this cozy reversible scarf.

Deco Lines is shaped like a rectangle with pointed ends, knitted from one point to the other on the bias. As you knit, you will travel through a variety of reversible textures that complement one another as they keep your project interesting. Weissman recommends solid or semi-solid colors to accentuate the texture of the scarf.  Fully written instructions are provided, along with an optional chart for one of the stitch patterns.  2 Sizes.

 Light Fingering Weight

DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: Highland Fingering by Cloudborn Fibers (100% Wool; 494yds): 2 (2) Skeins. Shown in Colorway Ocean.

ALTERNATE YARN: Cotton Ball by Schoppel Wolle (100% long staple Greek cotton; 100g/459 yds): 2 (2) skeins.  This lightly variegated yarn will show off the beautiful stitch patterns while providing coolness with a light layer.  Please know that cotton relaxes as it is worn and will stretch slightly during use.

ALTERNATE YARN: Sock by Malabrigo (100% Superwash Merino Wool; 100g/420yds): 2 (2) Skeins.  Use color Solis or Impressionist Sky to match the samples photographed. The kettle-dyes provide brilliant colors with depth and interest.  Due to designer recommendations, highly variegated colors are not offered in this kit.

ALTERNATE YARN: O-Wash Fingering by O-Wool (100% Machine Washable Organic Merino Wool; 100g/428 yds): 2 (2) Skeins.  O-Wash Fingering will have slight variegation but not as much as Malabrigo.  This GOTS certified yarn is specially processed to retain its woolen qualities (the hand) while being environmentally sensitive.  The dyes are naturally derived and friendly to the environment, and the wool is not treated harshly, such as burning off the scales or coating in plastics to keep the wool from felting in traditional superwash techniques.  This yarn has been discontinued and will only be available for a short while.

NEEDLES: Size US 5 / 3.75mm 32" circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge
OTHER TOOLS: Stitch Markers, Stitch holders or waste yarn
GAUGE: 22 stitches x  40 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch
