What is Burnishing?

Burnishing is the essential final "cleaning and brightening" stage of the tumbling process. While the polishing stage creates the shine, burnishing removes the microscopic film of polish and minerals—often caused by water hardness—that can leave your stones looking hazy or dull once they dry.

How It Works

Deep Cleaning: It flushes out lingering slurry and grit trapped in tiny crevices or "vugs" that water alone cannot reach.
Surface Brightening: For rocks, it strips away stubborn residues to reveal the true "wet look" luster underneath.
