The PRS Modern Eagle V stands at the intersection of innovation and tradition—an instrument that proudly carries PRS’s legacy of precision craftsmanship while pushing tonal design into bold new territory. True to the spirit of the Modern Eagle lineage, this model combines a carved maple top and resonant mahogany body with a Pattern-profile mahogany neck and smooth rosewood fingerboard, delivering the unmistakable feel and response that has defined PRS since its early Maryland workshop days.

Its real magic lies in the electronics. The Modern Eagle V’s hum/single/hum five-coil layout and highly intuitive switching system unlock a vast tonal atlas. The 5-way blade organizes pickups into musical pairings—from articulate treble humbucker tones to the airy single-coil chime of the NS-01 middle pickup, all the way to warm, full-bodied neck textures. Engage the push/pull tone control and both humbuckers come online, allowing unique combinations—including running all three pickups simultaneously for expansive, harmonically rich sounds.

Two mini-toggle EQ switches act as tuned high-pass filters, trimming low-end buildup and opening the high frequencies for pristine clarity—ideal for dialing in studio-ready articulation or cutting through dense mixes. PRS Phase III locking tuners and the Gen III tremolo ensure rock-solid tuning stability and expressive pitch control.

I like the travel size because I use a bulky hugging pillow to ease stress on my shoulder and elbow. That makes my side of the bed feel cramped if using a larger head pillow. A smaller pillow is easy to flip end-to-end in the middle of the night. I have spent lots of money on pillows over the years, but this is the best I've ever had for relieving [1] neck pain and [2] CPAP mask seal problems. Very comfortable, supportive, and affordable. I did not notice any unpleasant smell — and I am usually sensitive to that kind of thing. Would highly recommend.
