Genesis P-Orridge collaborator/Psychic TV member debuts grim and wry death rock as Scorpion Tea After taking time to grieve the death of cultural icon and longtime collaborator Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV), Edley ODowd (Psychic TV, Toilet Boys) journeyed internationally to reconnect with former bandmates to create a fresh take on experimental and death rock.

Self-described by drummer ODowd as "a band of monsters playing broken instruments," Scorpion Tea formed through the bonds of friendship, having survived the New York City punk and hardcore scenes together.

Meshing cultural influences from Ecuador, Colombia, Eastern Europe, and Puerto Rico with their collective thirst for punk, goth, death rock, and city pop, the group has created a sound described by vocalist Anthony Diaz as "the phonic expression of a den of ravenous creatures." Fern Puma's bass lines, dripping with dapper strength, smartly pair with songwriter and guitarist Christian Cruz's delectable, unnerving riffs and the bold flavor of Edley's thunderous drumming while Anthony's involute lyrical profile elicits an impending storm over a haunted forest.

The resulting noise is a harmonious blend with a rich and complex profile that anyone with an ear for the heavy will enjoy. The group's self-titled debut was recorded at Studio 22 in Los Angeles by Tomas Dolas (of Osees). "We spent six days in the brutal end of summer heat, with tons of equipment running, causing the heat outside to match the heat inside," explains Cruz, "It was nothing less than hallucinatory."

While the well-rehearsed and prepared quartet brought the power of performance, expressivity and their uncompromising ethics, Dolas and studio partner Joo Joo Ashworth (Air Bol Bol) also brought unique devices into the sessions, including a legendary Eventide H910 Harmonizer, to assist with the album's unique character. "Scorpion Tea were a real pleasure to work with," marks Dolas, "Truly monsters playing broken instruments!

They had such a great raw and dystopian energy in the studio. I think all that heat definitely got infused into the tracks!" Scorpion Tea's self-titled full-length, is available for pre-order now on limited edition random-color vinyl with metallic foil-stamped jacket and open edition CD. "A merciless death rock masterpiece. The group's abilities are truly remarkable." -White Light // White Heat

"Heavy death rock with some sick riffs, gloom and slowly mounting dread." -Razorcake "Solid debut driven by impressive guitar. It's a raw and merciless production covered with darkness and a 'no compromises' attitude." -Side-Line Magazine

"Hard mean motorcycle revving skids on the floor of a condemned church." -Sounds and Shadows "Not content to borrow from the stylistic trends of past decades, Scorpion Tea manages to quite naturally combine noise rock saturated with the gothic gloom of the early 80's and still offers a powerful twist as part of the canon of modern post-rock." -Kaaoszine

Not as expected.
Color: Black, Size: Large
I don’t usually do reviews but I need to for this. I’m a size medium. And everything I order in medium fits well. Not tight. But well. So I’m at first ordered this set medium size and the pants were ok. Not tight but just. The vest and jacket didn’t fit. Vest was 4 inches from closing and jacket 2 inches from closing. So I went base on the chart description from the images. Nope. So I said ok maybe I should size up. So I returned the medium set and order the large set. Well you guessed it. Still don’t fit. Now the pants were loose and long. The vest was 2 inches from closing and the jacket 1 inch from closing and the sleeves were very long. Of coarse because when you size up, everything sizes up. So no way I was going to get a XL. Not happy with this set. I don’t think the sizes are right. I know every body is different. But for me it didn’t work. I did find a different brand similar to this and I just got it today and wow. Pant. Jacket. Vest for very well just as it should on a medium. So this is why I’m doing a review for this. The quality is good. I would give it a 1 start but I’m not that mean. Anyways just letting you know what to expect. I’m not going to mention the other brand I found here. But just like I did my searching you can too. Bye.

Disappointed Customer
Color: Light Grey, Size: Small
It was to large but it was for his prom but we still had to use. Measure did add up to his exact size. Didn’t have time to send it back.
