Working with record-breaking polar explorer Ben Saunders on the testing and development of a new Limited Edition watch for his latest Trans-Antarctic Solo Expedition was a natural progression further to the success of the purpose-built Terra Nova back in 2014. Whilst the Terra Nova was designed to accompany Ben on what was set to be the longest human-powered polar journey in history, the new Bremont Endurance set out with Ben in November 2017 to make the first solo and unsupported crossing of Antarctica. Named in honour of Shackleton’s most famous expedition - one which saw him rescue his entire crew after his ship ‘Endurance’ was crushed in the sea ice - the route of which Ben was retracing solo, the name is of course also a nod to the company maxim of being ‘Tested Beyond Endurance’. Shackleton getting his men back alive is one of the greatest stories of human endeavour and leadership, qualities Ben has certainly demonstrated over his twelve expeditions in the polar regions, having covered more than 7,000km north of the Arctic circle and South of the Antarctic circle since 2001. Naturally, the timepiece had to be able to withstand the extreme climate conditions of the Antarctic continent, being worn on the outside of Ben’s jacket to serve as a crucial navigational device with its GMT hand. Limited to 300 pieces, its black dial together with its robust bi-directional rotating sapphire bezel features orange compass heading markers and complements the North indicator on the GMT hand, all designed for ease of navigation and clarity against the stark white of Antarctica.

Slim but capable

I've had my old wallet for over two decades, it's warren and the edges are starting to fall apart and I thought I'd be proactive and get a new one before it was completely useless. With all the new slim minimalist designs I was intregeed. This is what I found out, at least for my needs. These new elastic card clips, are nice size wise, are not what the are advertised to be. They are small in your pocket but you need another place for the items you don't use everyday. So as far as being slim and efficient they are misleading. Unless you plan ahead you won't have what you need, say health insurance cards oops forgot them cause I don't use them everyday. Ones with cash clips or elastic bands aren't what they are cracked up to be either. To pull out a bill you need to take all the bills out unfold then and then refold the and squeeze the back in the clip, not covenant. Next I tried a bi-fold card holder with a money clip. This solved the having everything I needed even if I didn't use it everyday but still had the cash usability issue which required less folding but still needed to pull all the bills out to use. Plus it wasn't any dinner or smaller then my old wallet. Then I found this wallet, it was pretty much the same as my old one minus one card slot due to the visible ID slot. So in the end this was the perfect wallet for me. Not sure what my old wallet was as the leather is very well worn but I'm guessing it is the same brand. One other thing this wallet is not scan protected which the other slim wallets were. But you can buy cheap sleeves to place on either side to protect against this if your concerned. One benefit of not having this feature is the ability to keep your key card in your wallet and have it work. Again slim but needing multiple place for your items is not efficient, was not a fan of the carabineer I had to also carry while using the slim wallets.
