This solitary plant can grow up to 4 inches tall and 6 inches in diameter. It also has thin, twisted spines that range in color from yellow to brown.  

This Gymnocalycium grows best in bright light, so make sure to provide plenty of it; if growing indoors, a south-facing location is ideal. It can thrive best in well-drained soil, minimal watering, and balanced fertilizer with NPK (5-10-5). Remember, those that have recently been purchased or repotted do not need to be fed for the first year.
