Description:

Henry Reynolds' ground-breaking re-examination of Australian colonisation from the north down.

When acclaimed historian Henry Reynolds moved from Hobart to Townsville to teach Australian history in the 1960s, he discovered the books of the period covered very little about northern Australia and First Nations peoples. He set out to help remedy the situation and ended up transforming Australian history in ways he could never have imagined.

In Looking from the North, Reynolds again turns Australian history on its axis with an exploration of colonisation north of the Tropic of Capricorn. Reynolds tells the stories of the European, Chinese, Japanese and Pacific Islander people who were vital to the settlement of the north. Along with the experience of First Nations peoples, from employment on stations and as native police to the land rights and homelands movements, Reynolds shows how the colonisation of the north, officially beginning in 1861, was a very different venture to settlement in the south. He argues that it provides profoundly important lessons for the world we live in today.

'This book is another masterpiece by Henry Reynolds. It combines the personal with the professional historiography that trademarks his work. The skilful and meticulous detail of his writing will once again inform Australians that truth can heal this nation.' Jackie Huggins

'Henry Reynolds was at the vanguard of young historians who burst onto the scene in the 1970s to shake the foundations of Australian history. Looking from the North explores "national history from the north down", yet ag

This home bar looks absolutely amazing in my space and adds such a nice, stylish touch to the room. It was very easy to put together the instructions were simple and everything fit together perfectly. The quality is great, it feels sturdy, and it really elevates the overall look of my home. I’ve already gotten compliments on it, and I couldn’t be happier with this purchase. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something functional and good-looking!

The cart looks really nice with the glass. It took some time to assemble. Nothing too difficult, just took time to screw everything in. All pieces arrived and the glass was packaged well so it wouldn’t break. Perfect size and a great price for the product. Highly recommend!

Tips for assemble at the end! I have to say, for as affordable as this piece is it sure is beautiful, easy to assemble, and functional. I am really happy with my purchase. I bought this as a surprise for my husband. He has a massive bourbon & whiskey collection that overtakes his entire bar, and this along with a new liquor cabinet was just what he needed to disperse some of his collection aesthetically. Be careful upon assembly, paint can chip if you screw the hardware in too tight. Also, when you go to put the suction cups in for the glass make sure you counter the weight from underneath the little flap with your free hand as you’re putting it on bc if you don’t, you’ll push so hard that the piece you’re pushing the suction cup into to get it to pop on properly will bend and break. I pushed a little hard on a couple of mine, but they bent back into place. Just assemble with a light hand.
