Treasures from the Mystery & Horror Collection at The Willing Mind. By exclusive arrangement with The Grand Review.

The Grand Review is, for me, an endless adventure.  There is the search, the discovery, the falling in love, the chase, the acquisition.  Then the rescue and in the best Dr. Frankenstein tradition, the bringing back to life.

The search has taken me into some amazing spaces.  Many formal collections, at other times an individual item with a story told over bowl of slaw.  This rather spooky mystery novel cover came to me as a result of three hours carte blanche rummaging through what is the largest private collection of mystery novels in the world.  It was housed in three floors of a building in the historic Queen Village neighborhood of Philadelphia.  The gal who owns the collection is both a local theater impresario and an organizer of various mystery novel conventions for collectors and fans of the genre.  I designed a poster for one of her conventions and she met my price.

Of course, knowing nearly nothing about the titles or the authors, and only the spines and titles to guide me, I plucked volumes out like I was playing Flight Of The Bumblebee on a gigantic harp.  There were thousands, and I was determined to find the very best and get them scanned.  Of course, this was back when I had to bring my giant computer, my massive oversized scanner, a colossal monitor and all the correct cables and power strips and clip lights and flashlights and... YIKES!

The results were a shockingly modest collection of true fine gems which we're only getting to years later.  Stay tuned as we finish their restoration and present them here.

A NOTE ON OUR PROCESS, OUR CHOICES AND THE QUALITY OF THE GRAPHIC CRAFTSMANSHIP THAT GOES INTO OUR PRINTS.

Every print we deem exciting enough to present to the public via our Etsy store or available here at our studio has gone through a number of steps.  The first of those is always discovering and falling in love with an obscure image, always an original that we can hold in our hands.  That image is speaking to us, sometime screaming “Don’t leave me here.  See what I am, what I was, what I can be, what I SHOULD be!”

There is a real sense of excitement involved, and a great many smiles and knowing grins when we make that deal and bring that ancient print, that battered photo, that scrap of ephemera that contains some scrap of genius from an unknown commercial artist home with us, knowing already how we mean to approach its restoration.

There is the heady promise of a further hunt just as real as what drags a weekend fisherman out of bed at 3AM to work a favorite brook as we start our research, looking for that great backstory, and both ready and willing to tumble down as many rabbit holes as are revealed to us to get that story.

Then there is a meticulous digital restoration that is as often as much fun as riding a vintage Moto Guzzi on a winding coastal road.  I don’t care if that sounds crazy, it really is like jumping in the saddle!  So many choices, so many chances to take to subtly or spectacularly give new life to otherwise permanently obscure images.

This dedication and the ongoing rush of joy in the accomplishment of it, and the opportunity to share the results in our studio and here on Etsy, is the fire of passion that keeps these engines roaring. We make every effort to ensure our customers are not just satisfied but thrilled, and we happily stand 100% behind our work.

Very bad
This guys are just an eye wash, they do not cover anything but will charge you. I bought Hand Blender and it broke in couple of months and I took 3 year protection from Asurion. When I contacted them about the issue, they said it is not started, go to manufacturer. I reached out to Amazon and they replaced it for me. Now again it broke. I reached out to asurion again. Now they say it is not contract. what is the point of having protection. Waste of time and money. I will not recommend this to anyone. This is a fraud protection.

Almost blew up my microwave
Size: 20 Ounces, Size: 20 Ounces
TL;DR "A hilarious microwave mistake turned into a great home cafe upgrade. This 20oz cup is straightforward to handle, looks incredibly professional, and holds a level of heat that will literally burn you if you aren't careful." . Bought this for homemade coffee brewing, just to spice things up. But as I go ahead to heat up my new shiny stainless steel milk frother cup in the microwave, whoopdy doo. Ya can’t put stainless in the microwave! Regardless, it’s still a straightforward frother cup to handle, making it a great dollar investment for upgrading my home cafe setup. . 1. Spotless Stainless Steel: Its sleek appearance made me feel professional in the hands of an amateur like moi. Great quality! 2. Temperature Retention: I accidentally burnt myself because it stayed so hot, but that is a major positive. Proving the insulation works perfectly and keeps the milk piping hot. 3. Size: The 20oz capacity is accurate, providing the perfect amount of space for frothing without any overflow.
