Mrs. Jekyll & Little Hyde is a reversible hat in heavy lace/light fingering weight wool that will still keep you warm, because of its two layers. The beret style hat can be worn either on it’s feminine lace side with the lining peeping discreetly through, or on the sporty side with narrow stripes on bolder contrast color and tiny little eyelets near the brim.  Tip: It is best to choose a contrast color that is different than one’s haircolor, so that it will pop through the lace and not look like it’s just the hair underneath the lace…

Both sides share the same ribbing, which is worked at the start in only one layer to reduce any bulk near the face. DESIGNER RECOMMENDED YARN: Supersoft 100% Uld by Host Garn (100% Wool; 50g/314yds): 2 Skeins.  This yarn is not available in the USA at this time.  It is a heavy lace/light fingering weight (lighter than sock weight).  Please select from the following yarns:

ALTERNATE YARN: Baby Lace by Malabrigo (100% Baby Merino Wool; 50g/470yds or 12.5g/116yds MINI): 1 Skein Color A, 1 Skein in Color B, + Optional 1 Mini in color C (for smallest stripe).  While a bit lighter gauge, Baby Lace is a woolen option for this hat and comes in a beautiful array of colors.  Please swatch and pre-wash all yarn to prevent color bleeding.  This yarn will felt if aggitated when wet.

SIZE: Child (Adult Medium/Adult Large)
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: all measurements are for unstretched hat.  Small/Child: Circumference brim: 15", Circumference body: 18.5", Length: 8.5"

Medium/Adult: Circumference brim: 16.5", Circumference body: 20.5", Length: 8.5"

Large Adult: Circumference brim: 18", Circumference body:22.5", Length:10"

YARDAGE: 359-490 yds.  If you’d like to substitute the yarn, please bear in mind that the yarn used here is a “light fingering” yarn and should better be substituted with a lace yarn that has similar yardage. Usual fingering or sock-yarn tend to be heavier and might result in a bigger sized hat.

NEEDLES: Size US US 1.5 / 2.5mm & US 2.5 / 3mm 16" circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge

GAUGE: 27 sts x 40 rows = 4" in Stockinette Stitch on US 2.5 needles after blocking.  30 sts x 44 rows - 4" in Stockinette Stitch on US 1.5 needles after blocking.
