Fouga CM.170 Magister Assembly Plastic Airplane Model Kit | AMK 88004 1/48

The Fouga CM.170 Magister is a French two-seat jet trainer. It is a twin-engine, mid-wing aircraft with nose landing gear and V tail for basic and advanced pilot training.

The first prototype flew with Turbomeca Marbore II engines, on 23rd July, 1952. Three prototype and 13 pre-production aircraft were made.

The first batch Magister was then delivered to the aviation school in Salon de Provence on 28th May, 1956. The French air force, Armee de l'Air, was satisfied with the performance and concept of the aircraft and gradually added around 200 Magisters to its fleet.

The Magister was also produced in the following countries by license: Finland, The German Federal Republic, Israel, and Belgium.

One interesting episode in the battle life of the Magister was their engagement in the civil war in the former Belgian Congo in 1961 by the separated autonomous region of Katanga (Force Aerienne Katangaise), the government of which bought three aircraft.

The Magister became a training jet almost all over the world. A total of 25 countries had used it in the past or continued to do so up to this day.

Magisters were also chosen as the show aircraft of aerial acrobat groups in France (Patrouille de France), Belgium (Red Devils), Germany (Acro Team) and Israel.
