Parallax of Growth is a groundbreaking book that delves deep into the intricate relationship between economy and ecology. Authored by the thought leader Bjerg, this 304-page publication provides insightful commentary on how modern economic structures are entwined with heightened ecological concerns. With an engaging analysis, the book examines the troubling concept of a 'debt drive' that compels our economy into a cycle of perpetual growth and accumulating debt. Instead of merely presenting solutions to the ongoing ecological and economic crises, Parallax of Growth shifts the discussion to 'why haven't we acted?' This thought-provoking work urges readers to reevaluate the foundational beliefs that underpin our societal organization and commitment to growth. Perfect for scholars, eco-activists, and anyone interested in understanding the dynamics of today's crises, this book invites a philosophical discourse on critical issues facing our world today. Description:
Parallax of Growth explores the ideas of economy and ecology and the factors that have put them on a collision course. Bjerg argues that our current mode of economic organization is characterized by an inherent debt drive , whereby the creation of money through the issuance of commercial bank credit has locked our economy into a vicious circle of forced growth and increasing debt. Parallax of Growth is not a catalogue of solutions to the ecological or the economic crisis. The book aims to shift the inquiry from what shall we do? to why have we not already done it? In order to address the challenges of our contemporary times of crisis, we need to understand how the idea of growth is deeply ingrained in the ideology as well as the organization of our society. The book aims to open the space for philosophical thinking about this important issue.

Great for a costume, but not for every day
Color: White, Size: Medium
I'm not sure what I was really expecting, but these pants made me feel like I was in the song zoot suit riot and/or Dick Tracy was trying to find me. They honestly just feel very costume-ish as opposed to being something dressy. I couldn't see myself wearing these to a job interview, which is kind of my standard for what qualifies as "dress clothes." However, they do fit quite well in the waist the and down the leg. I have a wide variety of clothing options, but I even find it difficult to pair anything with these pants.

Lightweight Fabric with a Bit of Stretch
Color: Black, Size: Medium, Color: Black, Size: Medium
I'm a fan of any fabric that has a small percentage of Spandex in the blend -- like these pants. (Along with mostly polyester and viscose.) It's not noticeably stretchy but the comfort is there. The fabric is very light and smooth -- and the stripes make a nice design statement. (They're giving me "gangster" vibes. Ha!) I have a 32" waist and the Medium fits me perfectly (with a little room to spare). I do have to hem the bottoms since I'm on the short side, but they taper nicely down the leg. There's an "adjustable waist" mentioned in the headline description, but I don't see anything resembling an adjustable waist on the pants. Just a hook and button closure. (Maybe I'm missing something?) I'm happy to add these to my wardrobe.
