A palm-sized vase produced in the mid-1960s by CERAMANO KERAMIK, finished with Hanns Welling’s famous Ägina décor. The subtle, fat-lava texture of the creamy-brown glaze was enhanced by various sgraffito and wax-resist techniques, creating a wide necklace of hand-cut dots. The incised base bears the model Nr. 117, the country of origin, and the remains of a paper label. The Ägina line drew inspiration from ancient Mediterranean art, with motifs of stylized figures and geometric patterns, its name referencing the Greek island (or perhaps its mythological namesake).

HANNS WELLING (1924-?) was responsible for some of the most inspired post-war German art-pottery designs ever produced. Born in 1924, his studies in painting and graphics at Düsseldorf’s Academy of Fine Arts commenced when he was seventeen, but were interrupted after two semesters by military service. Following his 1947 discharge, he resumed academic pursuits, and, after further training abroad in France and Italy, he graduated in 1951. The next year, Welling joined the Kettiger Clay Works (aka Keto) in Lantershofen, south of Bonn, assuming leadership of its newly established art department. He notably took charge of the production of the company’s beloved engobe ceramics, which typically featured bold, hand-painted designs on black, matte backgrounds.

Welling left Keto in 1956 for a short stint with Ruscha Keramik in nearby Rheinbach, as a décor designer and head of the painting department. Two years later, he received an offer from Jakob Schwaderlapp, the owner of Jasba Keramik, to help him establish a new company that focused exclusively on manufacturing high-quality ceramics with a handcrafted aspect. The company’s program was presented in 1959 under the brand name CERAMANO. In addition to shapes and décors, Welling was responsible for the firm’s external presentation (catalogs, advertising photos, exhibition stands, etc.). This level of involvement in the nuts-and-bolts development of the entire character of a ceramics factory was unique in the industry. Many famous CERAMANO décors are ascribed to Welling: Pergamon, Koralle, Minerva, Ceralux, and Tundra. He retired from CERAMANO in 1961 but continued to provide designs as a freelancer well into the 1970s.

Hanns Welling’s creative range was vast. His experimentation with surfaces and glazing encompassed wax-resist and sgraffito motifs, volcanic “fat-lava” surface glazing, applied “knob” patterns, as well as dusty finishes that attempt to mimic the look of vessels unearthed at archaeological sites. An artist of international standing in all areas of the field, among Welling’s diverse contributions to the German ceramics industry were designs for Cortendorf, Schloßberg, W. Goebel-Porzellanfabrik, Steingutfabrik Staffel, Hutschenreuther, and Rosenthal, as well as a twelve-year collaboration with the Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin.

CERAMANO was the brainchild of Jakob Schwaderlapp, the founder of Jasba Keramik. He set up the sister company in 1959 to produce high-end ceramics that would complement Jasba’s mass-produced lines and respond to the growing demand for innovation in the decorative arts. The manufacture of more artistic and experimental items had hitherto been the province of small workshops; Schwaderlapp had the idea to replicate the look and feel and the creativity of artisanal work using modern factory methods. CERAMANO went public with the debut of an extensive product range at the Frankfurt Trade Fair. The celebrated Hanns Welling was introduced as the man in charge, responsible for the company’s marketing as well as for all of its shapes and décors (glaze and pattern combinations). Welling remained at the helm until 1962, when the position of head designer was handed off to Gerda Heuckeroth (1920–?), later known for her amazing body of work at Carstens.

To achieve its goals, CERAMANO employed many of the top ceramic artists of the day, notably (in addition to Welling and Heuckeroth) the Hungarian designer László Dudás. Unsurprisingly, the items it produced were generally of high quality and a varied nature. Many of the more expensive pieces were completely handmade on a wheel; most vases were built using the company’s signature reddish-brown clay. Compared with other German ceramics firms, an unusual amount is known about the décors of CERAMANO owing to its practice of listing their names on vessel bottoms. Top décors include Rubin, Toscana, Stromboli, and Pergamon, plus rarities like Saturn, Achat, and Incrusta. Along with the décor name, bases were generally engraved (by the décor artist) with the model number and the artist’s initials. This practice enhanced the “studio” semblance of CERAMANO’s pieces. Willi Schwaderlapp (b. 1927), Jakob’s son and partner, took over the company in 1964, after which it was split off from Jasba entirely.

Note: CERAMANO’s model (shape) numbers usually have three digits. They are sometimes followed by a slash (virgule) and a second number, ranging from one to six, that denotes the piece’s relative size. Whether or not and how much text is included on the base seems to depend on the size of the vessel in most cases. “Handarbeit” (handmade) is also a common marking. Vases from later periods were provided with paper labels.

CERAMANO continued to develop economically with the takeovers of Waku Feuerfest and Steinzeug und Mosaikplattenfabrik in the 1970s, which allowed for expansion into the production of, respectively, tableware and architectural tiles. The company’s export share slowly increased for a time, but the gambit ultimately proved unsuccessful. As the 1980s progressed, interest in art pottery waned sharply. CERAMANO finally closed its doors in 1989. (Jasba is still in operation, producing industrial tiles exclusively.)

Unbelievable power in such a tiny device.
I absolutely can't believe how well this device works for frothing milk, mixing coffee or powders into liquids, beating eggs, or anything else you can think of. Of course, you need to realize you're not making heavy batters like pancake batter with it, but for regular liquids, it's incredible. The speed at which it operates is unreal. If turned up too high and there's not enough space in your cup, the liquid spills over because it's so quick. If you're looking for a milk frother like this and don't buy it from this company, you're missing out. The power and size are just right. The shape is ergonomic, fitting the curve of your hand, making it very comfortable to hold. It's extremely versatile. I've used it with eggs, powders—like chocolate milk—and anything else I can think of. It's rechargeable, and its milk frothing ability is faster than I can describe. It's also very sturdy. It doesn't have any plastic pieces on the accessories that can break, unlike other frothers with plastic parts on the accessories that can be cracked or damaged. It's almost like one of those mini hand mixers your mom used to use—just straight metal, no plastic that can break. Just for clarification the device is made of plastic, I'm just speaking specifically about accessories like the frothers, powder mixer or hook, and the milk frother spring itself. It even comes with a stand to keep everything together on your counter. The battery is large for a small device, so it lasts between charges—I don't think I've had to recharge it yet. Just in case you don't have one, it also comes with a USB C charging cable. The battery's percentage is displayed on a digital screen, so you know exactly how much power is left. You don't need to buy batteries; it's already built-in and rechargeable. Plus, it comes from a company that stands behind its product, offering a 2-year warranty once you easily register online. I had a small issue when I first received the product, but the company replaced it quickly. All of this costs around $25. I recently started having some trouble with my hands because I'm getting older, and it's helped tremendously with small tasks I need to accomplish. It's an absolutely amazing product for the price. I also made a nice video for this review but Amazon wouldn't let me load it for reasons unknown.

The BEST frother available, you will love it too!
I have an earlier model that is still really good and this one is even better. I didn't know it was possible, but Foodville has outdone themselves with this model. I love the led blue digital display at the top that shows the speed selected, and % remaining charge; there are seven speeds and I have not even gotten past the third speed. The first push of the power button, simply illuminates the blue digital display, and speed of zero; the next push shows 1, as the unit powers on and every push after increases the speed. The off button, above the on button, when pushed shows zero, and the unit spins down. It is really nice to see the confirmation that it is off, as it spins down. The amazing part is the length of charge. I have been using it for weeks and it is still over 80% charge, and the handle is still slender, not like others that get larger as capacity increases. This one is slender, lightweight and so powerful. The stand not only holds the frother, but the accessories too. I have used the whisk to scramble eggs and it does a very credible job. I can't say enough good about this frother/mixer, but it is the best I have used and I have several. The company is known for their outstanding warranty and customer service. I use speed one or two for frothing and the third speed can sometimes risk such action as to spin the mix over the rim of my frothing pitcher, so it really means business. Buy it, you won't regret it and will never want or need another. It's just the best!

Excellent product, excellent customer service, reasonable price
FoodVille has done it again, creating another great milk frother. This is the third FoodVille frother I've owned, the first two being MF02 models. After wearing my first one out after years of use, I purchased my second MF02 about a year ago, and it's still going strong. However, when I learned they had a new and improved model, I decided to buy it to try it, even though my second one still works great. The MF06 is a definite improvement, with the attachments now being all metal to avoid the potential for breakage when removing them repeatedly, the addition of the digital battery life and speed display, an improved stand, and nine versus three speed settings. There was one thing I had to quickly get used to, and that is the separate on/off button. On my last FoodVille milk frother, there were three speeds, and each speed had only one button that turned it both on and off. This MF06 has one button that controls the speed setting and one button that turns it off. The first few times I used it, I forgot about the separate off button and hit the speed button again (like with the previous one), turning it up higher instead of turning it off, causing my coffee to overflow from the cup. That isn't a design flaw, just a different design that I'm now accustomed to. Honestly, the three speeds were already plenty strong and effective for my purposes, but having nine is just an improvement, since I'm sure some people use this for more than just coffee. I use mine to blend powdered creamer and protein into almond milk before adding coffee, and the MF06 is very effective at getting it blended as smoothly as I want it. Also, I've now been using the new model for six weeks, and even with the battery power being around 75%, I haven't noticed much, if any, decrease in its power and effectiveness, and I haven't had to recharge it yet. The only reason I'm giving it four instead of five stars is one change in the design that I don't like, which is the angled head where the digital display is. While many people may love the stand that comes with this product, I personally don't have room for it and don't use it, and I cannot set this frother on the end of its handle to act as a base like I do with the MF02. If I wanted to leave it sitting on the counter, it won't stand upright on its end unsupported, so I would be forced to use the stand if I didn't have a specific storage container set in a wire metal basket on the counter where this will rest at an angle between two canisters and against the side of the basket. Changing the angled end on the handle to a flat end that will stand upright would be my only recommendation if/when FoodVille decides to update this product again. I also have to say that one reason I chose to order the MF06 when I didn't really need a new milk frother yet is that their customer service has been amazing. The first product I bought from them years ago had some sort of issue shortly after I got it (I don't even remember now what it was), and Elisa very promptly addressed the issue and resolved my problem with excellent communication. When a plastic component on an attachment on the older model broke, she promptly sent me a replacement. For me, FoodVille has delivered high quality products and excellent customer service, honors their warranty, and seems very interested in customer feedback to help them improve their products. For reviewers who said they had an issue shortly after buying it and gave a low rating, I suspect they didn’t even try to contact FoodVille for a replacement, because they honor their warranty beyond Amazon’s 30 days.

Perfect for Bulletproof Coffee, Shakes, and Daily Use
I have been using the previous FoodVille frother since 2024 and I still rely on it, but the MF06 is definitely a real upgrade. The build quality is better, it is simple to use, and the sturdier attachments feel more durable. I love the single‑button variable speed control! The new digital display is another nice improvement, and I find the charge lasts longer, which by the way, it charges by USB so no batteries needed. I use it daily for bulletproof coffee, protein shakes, and for mixing other supplements. Customer service has been excellent and always responsive. I am very happy with this purchase. For the price and performance, it is an excellent choice!

The best hand frother
Color: Pure White, Color: Pure White
UPDATE: I bought this hand mixer in July 2025 and used it almost every day. It’s an incredibly good product, durable, reliable, and very easy to use. It comes with a charger, and the battery lasts a long time also it included a metal stand to hold it. Sadly it stopped working about a week ago (April 2026), but the best part is that it comes with a two-year warranty. It was very easy to contact customer support via email, they responded the same day, and I received a free replacement just a few days later. The new unit is the same product with the same accessories, but instead of just a stand, it now comes with a charging base, which is a fantastic and very practical upgrade. This is the best hand frother I’ve ever purchased. Even after almost a year of use, the accessories are still in perfect condition, and the customer service was excellent. I 100% recommend it.
