Hackberry is not a very hard wood and tends to be fibrous, so sharp tools are most effective. Spalted, Hackberry can be a beautiful wood and is well suited for decorative turnings. However, I recommend that you do not choose Hackberry for any projects requiring heavy use (such as utility bowls, knife handles, game calls, etc.) unless you have plans on some type of "hardening" procedure. I also recommend that you take light cuts with sharp tools to avoid the tear-out problems common with spalted woods. This blank does have some minor drying cracks that you will likely want to fill or reinforce with CA glue prior to turning. This is a GREEN to partially air-dried bowl blank, meaning that it still retains a lot of its original moisture from when it was a living tree. It has been well-sealed on end-grain surfaces with Anchor Seal and is in the process of slowly drying. It has been heat-treated to eliminate any gnawing critters. It was measured at ~25% MC in May 2022. If you need a current moisture content, please message us and we'll check its status for you. About the Tree This Texas-grown Hackberry tree was removed from a Brangus cattle ranch in Pattison, Texas in 2021. Hackberry is a common fenceline tree in Texas, and it tends to disrupt the fence as it grows. This particular tree was removed by the rancher when it interfered with his fenceline. It was saved from the rancher's burn pile and carefully sealed and dried. It was milled in early 2022, and it is now ready for a trip to your shop for the next stage in its life. I'm sorry but I would have never bought this item if I knew it was manufactured in China. They don't have the quality control we have in the U.S. and that's extremely important to me when using body products and taking supplements.

Elsie approved, no bull, bee sweet.
Smooth as warm butter, not at all greasy, absorbs faster than a sprinting calf, easy on one’s hide, no barnyard smell- more like a field of clover, leaves the skin udderly refreshed and glowing. It’s a honey of a deal and worth it. Silly comments, but all true in this gals opinion and that’s no bull.

I love this stuff! My mom introduced this to me while I was visiting her, and within 3 days of using it I knew I needed to order one for myself. It has no smell, goes on buttery soft, and soaks in well. It is not heavy at all. At night I layer it on thicker and during the day I put a very thin layer on under my makeup. My skin is so much softer and hydrated. I have had small bumps on my cheeks for so long and they were gone within 3 days. My skin looks dewy and soft.
I read reviews of other brands that smelled, were oily, or too heavy. This is none of those things and it is a great price!

I love the texture! Its silky smooth and light on the skin, no weird smell, very moisturizing. Ive used one of the containers for most of my pregnancy to keep the skin on my belly and hips moisturized. I add a few drops of organic frankincense to a nickel-sized amount of this balm and mix it together in my hands before applying. I use a clean q-tip to scoop out the tallow balm as needed too to be sure the rest in the jar stays clean, rather than using my washed fingers, to reduce accidentally contaminating the rest of it somehow. My skin has stayed so healthy thanks to this product. It reduces the itchiness of my expanding skin from the baby growing in my belly, and i think its made a positive difference in preventing stretch marks by keeping my skin hydrated as i use it almost daily and after every shower. I just got my second jar in the mail to use for this last month of my pregnancy, and I will probably use it for my baby when hes born too.
I also love that it comes in nice packaging, with a thank you note, very minimal plastic, and classy label. I dont think the jar is plastic either which i LOVE (pretty sure its glass container?) Thank you to the creators of this product. I kind of wish i could get it in a glass dispenser like lotion but i really dont care at the end of the day. Its amazing. You should try it.
