Unlock the intricate relationship between law and society with 'The Making of Law' by Bruno Latour. This meticulously crafted volume is a significant contribution to the social studies of law, providing unprecedented insights into the legal practices of the French supreme courts, the Conseil d'État. As an ethnographic exploration, the book employs comparative methods across different value systems, including science, technology, religion, and art, to reveal the complexities of administrative law in France. Despite the differences between the French legal system and the Anglo-American tradition, Latour’s analysis bridges cultural divides, making it accessible to English-speaking audiences. Dive into this essential resource for legal practitioners, sociologists, and students of law who seek a deeper understanding of legal reasoning and its implications on social associations. With 280 pages of in-depth research published by John Wiley & Sons, this book enriches the discourse on how legal frameworks shape societal ties. Condition: BRAND NEW. ISBN: 9780745639857. Description:
In this book, Bruno Latour pursues his ethnographic inquiries into the different value systems of modern societies. After science, technology, religion, art, it is now law that is being studied by using the same comparative ethnographic methods. The case study is the daily practice of the French supreme courts, the Conseil d™Etat, specialized in administrative law (the equivalent of the Law Lords in Great Britain). Even though the French legal system is vastly different from the Anglo-American tradition and was created by Napoleon Bonaparte at the same time as the Code-based system, this branch of French law is the result of a home-grown tradition constructed on precedents. Thus, even though highly technical, the cases that form the matter of this book, are not so exotic for an English-speaking audienceWhat makes this study an important contribution to the social studies of law is that, because of an unprecedented access to the collective discussions of judges, Latour has been able to reconstruct in detail the weaving of legal reasoning: it is clearly not the social that explains the law, but the legal ties that alter what it is to be associated together. It is thus a major contribution to Latour™s social theory since it is now possible to compare the ways legal ties build up associations with the other types of connection that he has studied in other fields of activity. His project of an alternative interpretation of the very notion of society has never been made clearer than in this work. To reuse the title of his first book, this book is in effect the 'Laboratory Life of Law'.

Very good product
Size: Medium, Color: (001) Black / Black / Pitch Gray
I purchased these to wear inside lowcut slip on casual shoes, I don't particularly like to not wear socks in my shoes for hygienic reasons. Prior to purchasing these socks, all I could find were those made of very light beige hosiery type material , and my slip on shoes would slide around a bit. These are light weight and breathable athletic type material, with a very good gripper strip at the heel. One pair of my slip on casual shoes have a particularly lower cut in the toe area, but the shoe is black and I chose the black color and though I see a hint of the sock there, it matches and does not detract from the look of the casual solid black shoe

They stay out! No more sock wads!
Size: Medium, Color: (100) White / White / Mod Gray
Best no show socks ever made!!!!! I've been struggling for 2 years to find ones that actually stay on your foot, even other national brands, and I just became content wearing my sneakers without socks. They ALWAYS slid down into my show & I ended up walking on a wad of sock until I could fix it...or usually just took them off after a couple of tries. Enter Under Armor!!! They a mid weight, but not very thick & still breathable. They work too by actually staying on your foot! Not once have they slid down into my show!! Very comfortable but they could be a little more affordable.
