All dressed up for its 30th Anniversary, we have the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe 30th Anniversary edition. It may be safe to say that at some point, all gigging guitar players have played through a Hot Rod Deluxe at some point in their musical journey. Known as a reliable backline choice, the Hot Rod Deluxe has been serving players well with its 40-watts of all tube power, the perfect pedal platform.
The Hot Rod Deluxe is constructed from a lightweight pine cabinet and is wrapped in a black western tooled vinly covering. The vintage leather handle and '50s tweed grille cloth pair well with the new look. Inside the cabinet, the signal flow begins with modified preamp circuitry – which offers great tonal definition and clarity, even when pushed. Powered by three 12AX7s in the preamp section and two 6L6s in the power amp, the amplifier delivers 40-watts of high headroom, clean sound. Filtering that sound is a single 12-inch Celestion G12M-65 Creamback speaker which delivers a vintage-voiced sound that is tight and clear.
With 3 selectable channels, onboard reverb and drive, and an effects loop, the Hot Rod Deluxe 30th Anniversary edition remains one of the best choices out there, this time with a sleek cosmetic upgrade.
