One of the biggest problems with dive watch bezels is the PIP or DOT, no manufacturer seems to have found the perfect solution to prevent occasional loss if they are impacted or become snagged on something. These universal pips will tend to fit most divers watches with just a dab of strong adhesive needed.

Replacing the PIP yourself as a DIY job is significantly cheaper than taking it to a watchmaker and is very easy and straightforward. The only thing to remember is always to apply the adhesive to the PIP do not pour it into the hole or it can drip down onto the spring in the case of some watches and lock the bezel, if this does happen it can be freed off but nevertheless it's best avoided.

People often ask which products can cause the PIP to fail. It's difficult to answer this categorically because there are numerous different types of adhesive used to hold it in place during assembly but the products below are prone to cause issues, so it will give you a good idea of what can cause it to drop out.

  • Acetone/nail polish remover
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Some solvents
  • Vinegar
  • Coconut oil and baking soda
  • Hot, soapy water. This one is a problem when people are cleaning boats, cars or motorcycles, because if the PIP comes into contact water and detergents continuously at some point it will potentially drop out. Of course it's small size makes it nigh on impossible to find it.

Tire plugging must-have
I have plugged two ties since buying this and it makes it incredibly easy! No more struggling to get the hand reamer in. Stick it in a drill and go to town. I start with smallest and work my way up

Great tool for tire plugs
I have been using tire plugs with great success for decades. I have probably installed close to 50 plugs. The hardest part can be reaming the hole to the proper size to get a plug installed. I have wanted something like this for years. These are well made, and while I have not had to use them yet, I have no doubts they will work great the next time I find a screw or nail in a tire. Recommended.
