For most of his adult life, Charles Brasch’s most intimate companion was his diary. In these journals, written in London during the Second World War, he is a young man searching for answers. Is he a pacifist? Should he join the army? Is he homosexual? Should he marry? Should he return home to New Zealand when the war ends? Are his poems any good? Some questions are resolved in the course of the journals, others not, but it all makes compelling reading. So, too, do the people we meet in these pages: kith and kin, conscientious objectors, civil servants working at Bletchley Park (as Brasch was to), members of the Adelphi Players, fellow fire wardens, refugees from Europe, and artists and writers both English and Kiwi. As Rachel Barrowman writes in her introductory essay, on his return home Brasch was to hold ‘a central place in New Zealand literary life for two decades’, as founder of Landfall, and as patron, mentor and writer. In these splendid journals, he prepares for that role.

I have to think about my return to NZ & the possibility of living there; the thought of it haunts me, part vision, part nightmare … Charles Brasch, 21.6.42

Vibrant colors, great traction on fabric, and easy cleanup
This sublimation ink has been a great find. The colors are vibrant and transfer beautifully to fabrics, mugs, and phone cases. The traction on the material is excellent—designs don’t smudge or fade easily after pressing. I also appreciate how clean it is to work with. Refilling my Epson EcoTank printer was simple, and there were no messy drips or stains. Cleanup of tools and surfaces was quick with just a damp cloth. For beginners or experienced crafters, this ink delivers consistent, professional-looking results every time.

OMG!!! This Paper Is Amazing
Size: 1 Ream | 500 Sheets, Style: Letter (8.5x11)
Omg!!! This is seriously the best printer paper I’ve ever used. I honestly didn’t think paper could make that much of a difference until I tried this one. The quality feels so much better and thicker compared to regular cheap printer paper, and everything I print comes out super sharp and clean. Colors look brighter, text looks crisp, and the pages feel more premium. This paper is super clean bright white with a premium quality weight that immediately feels higher-end when you touch it. It makes documents, photos, and color prints look much more professional. I’ve used it for regular printing, important documents, and color prints, and my printer handles it perfectly without jams. It also doesn’t feel flimsy or thin when holding the paper. You can definitely tell this is higher quality paper right away. Now I don’t even want to go back to regular printer paper anymore lol. Definitely worth buying if you print a lot and want your documents to actually look nice.
