Yes, you can make pants! In this advanced beginner class, we will be making a classic elastic waist pants pattern. It's the ideal starting point to learn basic pant construction with pockets! If you've already taken our beginner Essential Shirt class, this is the perfect class to take next.
Students will make a unisex pair of simple pull up pants with an elastic waistband and pockets!
In the first session we'll learn the basics of reading the pattern, and learn to trace your pattern and cut your fabrics and depending on time, we will start the first steps of sewing the pants. Then during the next session, you'll finish sewing the pants.
You'll collect your pattern on the first night of class.
Skills you will learn:
- How to read and trace and cut a sewing pattern
- How to sew / construct pants
- How to sew pockets
- How to sew an elastic waistband
- How to hem pants
Skills expected: This is an advanced beginner class. Please make sure you know how to thread a machine and that you've sewn a few simple projects before this class.
Materials: We make it easy on you! You can purchase a materials kit for this class. You'll have a choice of fabrics. Just choose in-store pickup at checkout, and you'll actually pick out and receive the materials at class. You will have a variety of linen and cotton fabrics to choose from.
If you don't get a supply kit, you will need: 2-2.5 yds of cotton or linen fabric depending on your size + 1.5in elastic for the waistband.
Materials provided: Sewing machine, thread, fabric shears, pins, marking tools, measuring tape and an iron.
