About the Artist
Roderic O'Conor left Cork for Paris in the 1880s, where he spent decades refining a style rooted in colour and warmth rather than the grey restraint of home. He studied under the shadow of the Impressionists, absorbing their freedom, and developed his own language of thick, expressive brushwork.
