Installation Guide

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and shift the outboard into neutral.
2. Remove the bolts securing the lower unit (gearcase) to the engine's midsection.
3. Carefully lower and separate the gearcase from the outboard. Be mindful of the shift shaft.
4. Locate the water pump assembly on top of the drive shaft.
5. Unscrew the bolts holding the pump cover and remove it.
6. Note the rotational direction of the existing impeller vanes before sliding the old impeller off the driveshaft.
7. Remove the old wear plate and any gaskets from the pump housing.
8. Clean all mating surfaces thoroughly, removing any old gasket material or debris.
9. Install the new gaskets, wear plate, and impeller. Lightly lubricate the inside of the pump cup and the new impeller.
10. Reinstall the pump cover, ensuring the impeller vanes are oriented correctly, and tighten bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.
11. Realign the lower unit, ensuring the driveshaft, shift shaft, and water tube are correctly seated, and bolt it back to the midsection.
12. Reconnect the battery and test the engine using a water source (flushing attachment or in water), confirming a steady stream from the tell-tale port.
