The 3803 movement is an analog quartz caliber introduced in the early 1970s by Suwa Seikosha, marking Seiko's first widely produced quartz watch series. It features a day-date complication and operates with a 16 kHz quartz crystal (later upgraded to 32 kHz in some examples), delivering an accuracy of about 10-15 seconds per month. Equipped with 7 jewels, it includes a stepper motor and an anti-backlash mechanism for smooth second-hand movement. Production ran from 1971 to 1975, and it powered mid-range models like the 38QTW, with a retail price around 70,000 yen at launch—significantly higher than many mechanical Seikos of the era.
