VALA SCARF

The Vala scarf is available in three sizes — S, M, and L — and you only need 50 g of our soft PURE silk to make it. The Vala scarf is the ideal project for you if you want to try working with silk yarn. Starting from the bottom point upwards, the scarf is worked back and forth in a pattern of knit and purl stitches. First, a small strip of stocking stitch is worked to create the base of the shallow triangle. Then stitches are picked up along the side and cast-on of the strip. From then on, the first and last 3 stitches are worked in stocking stitch for the edges while the remaining stitches are worked in pattern. At the same time, increases are worked inside the edge stitches on every row until reaching the desired width. At the top right corner, a small i-cord loop for buttoning is worked before continuing with an i-cord cast-off along the top edge, adding a second loop approx. 20 cm [8 in] from the corner. The edge and i-cord are grafted together. Finally, a button made with a washer from the hardware store is sewn to the top left corner.
