Guest appearances include Labrinth, Ed Sheeran, and Lana Del Rey.
The record marked a turning point in The Weeknd’s career, blending his dark R&B roots with pop and electronic influences that brought him mainstream success. The album produced five singles, including two Billboard Hot 100 number-one hits, “The Hills” and “Can’t Feel My Face”, as well as “Earned It”, originally featured on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack and later nominated for an Academy Award.
Critically, Beauty Behind the Madness was praised for its production and songwriting, with reviewers noting The Weeknd’s ability to balance moody introspection and pop accessibility. The album debuted at No. 1 in multiple countries, becoming his first chart-topping album in the United States, where it opened with 412,000 album-equivalent units. It was the tenth best-selling album worldwide in 2015, with over 1.5 million copies sold.
At the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, the album won Best Urban Contemporary Album and was nominated for Album of the Year, cementing The Weeknd’s emergence as one of the decade’s defining pop artists.
