Hackberry Block Hk-446 2.2" x 2.2" x 21.5" 2.4 lbs. This is a long end-grain block of slightly spalted Texas Hackberry. It has very pretty grain that is mostly straight to slightly curving. There are occasional knots that swirl the grain. The colors are a cool gray-brown, with darker brown to black spalting features. This spindle has a bit of wane along one edge -- it has a sliver of sapwood and bark adjacent to the minor wane. Hackberry is not a very hard wood and tends to be fibrous, so sharp tools are most effective. Spalted, Hackberry can be a beautiful wood and is well suited for decorative turnings. However, I recommend that you do not choose Hackberry for any projects requiring heavy use (such as utility bowls, knife handles, game calls, etc.) unless you have plans on some type of "hardening" procedure. I also recommend that you take light cuts with sharp tools to avoid the tear-out problems common with spalted woods. This blank does have some minor drying cracks that you will likely want to fill or reinforce with CA glue prior to turning. This is a GREEN to partially air-dried bowl blank, meaning that it still retains a lot of its original moisture from when it was a living tree. It has been well-sealed on end-grain surfaces with Anchor Seal and is in the process of slowly drying. It has been heat-treated to eliminate any gnawing critters. It was measured at ~25% MC in May 2022. If you need a current moisture content, please message us and we'll check its status for you. About the Tree This Texas-grown Hackberry tree was removed from a Brangus cattle ranch in Pattison, Texas in 2021. Hackberry is a common fenceline tree in Texas, and it tends to disrupt the fence as it grows. This particular tree was removed by the rancher when it interfered with his fenceline. It was saved from the rancher's burn pile and carefully sealed and dried. It was milled in early 2022, and it is now ready for a trip to your shop for the next stage in its life. We hope you will turn it into a cherished keepsake. |

SEEMS TO WORK WELL... IF YOU CAN GET IT INTO THE TIRE

The front 11x6 tires of our Scag ZTR mower leaked air around the bead (a common problem). I bought one 10-oz bag to treat them, for about $22.
No matter how much I squeezed and squeezed, it would not dispense product. Turns out a small plug of "something" had clogged the hole in the cap (see photo). This might not be a problem for the syringe version but it sure was with the bag.
After discarding about an ounce of product and clearing the hole with a finishing nail, I was able to treat both tires. I drove the mower for ~15 minutes. Four days later they seem to be holding air. Previously, they went flat in two days.
So it seems to be working, but I have to drop a star for a flawed delivery system. If the tires start going flat again within an unreasonable period of time I'll come back and update this report.

Fan For Life!

I would not expect this to seal sidewall penetration or save an old tire from dry rot, but when it comes to road surface tire penetration there is absolutely no better or faster way to repair a flat.
1. You don’t have to remove the tire from the vehicle. Losing half a day waiting for a fixed flat tire is at an end!
2. While a bit pricey, it comes out to be a bit cheaper than a shop trip for smaller UTV or mower tires and A LOT cheaper for larger truck and tractor tires. In 2024, we spent over $350 on flats.
3. We have spiny honey locust trees and bushes invading our farm and deal with flats at least once a month, usually more often than that when clearing fence lines and trees or maintaining pastures. Not to mention the aggravating repeated flats on the same tire are gone.
4. The injector is a bit messy, but the residue will wash off in water if it is cleaned before it dries.
5. So far of the six treated tires on various machines, we’ve had no repeat flats or leaks.
6. Red valve covers come with the packaging so it’s easy to see whether a tire has been treated.
7. This works on tubes and no tubed tires.
8. I’ve used this on my truck, SUV, riding mower, UTV, tractor front tires, and backhoe front tires. Works as promised every time.
If the manufacturer is reading this review, I would appreciate a simpler dosing and injection system - especially on the gallon jug. I’m thinking of something like the pump on a lotion bottle where one pump equals one ounce for example. And provide more than one injector hose. Attach a string or other keeper on the valve removal tool. Losing this tiny tool would make the whole system inoperative.
Overall, I’m a lifetime fan.

Works Awesome

Product works great. I have it in my lawn mower tires. I have a property that we cleared of 100's of mesquite trees and I have been getting flats everytime I mowed. I added this to the tires and have now mowed 6 times with no flats. Keep in mind it does not work on tires with tubes but works perfect for tubeless tires. I have ordered 2 more kits for my 4 wheelers.
