This sporty and comfortable dress is worked seamlessly from the top down.  Stripes & bold color are kept on the top to keep the focus near the face, enhance the shoulders and create a slimmer silhouette, while the pattern of the shoulder saddle adds some texture to the shoulders.  The back and front are worked from the shoulder saddles to the armholes. After the underarm the body is knitted to the hemline in one piece. The sleeve stitches are picked up and the sleeve cap is knitted with short-rows to allow the seed stitch pattern of the saddles to flow into the sleeve.  The dress is shaped with darts for a three dimensional tailored result and the waist is kept slightly higher than usual. 

Different positive ease at the bust, the waist and the hips allow for a more flattering shape, that does not cling to the body.
