1973年にSARAH COVENTRYが発売した、"Firefly(蛍)"と名付けられたリング。

虫を思わせるユニークなフォルムのオープンワークメタルに、炎のように鮮烈なレッドのストーンが縦に三石セットされたデザイン。メタルの側面には繊細なテクスチャーが施されています。

こちらのリング、「蛍」なのに何故グリーンではなく、オレンジを帯びたレッドのビジューが用いられているのでしょうか。

蛍の光の色ではなく、頭部の鮮やかな朱赤をデザインに落とし込んだのかもしれませんし、一億年以上前の蛍の先祖は緑色ではなく、赤色の光を放っていたという説も。

デザイナーの意図に想いを馳せてしまう、ロマンあるデザインが素敵です。身に纏えば、まるで内側から発光しているかのようなレッドが、指元を印象的に彩ってくれる作品。

1949年にNYで創業したコスチュームジュエリーメーカー。社名は創業者の孫娘(サラ)の名をとって名付けられました。主にホームパーティー形式で販売され、大きな成功を収めました。個性的なものからエレガントなものまで、豊富なデザインが特徴。1981年に閉業しましたが、そのデザイン性と品質の高さから、現在も世界中のコレクターに愛されています。
